Jean Paul Gaultier: From The Sidewalk To The Catwalk

Pretty much all of San Francisco's fashionistas went bananas after hearing that Jean Paul Gaultier was in town from Paris promoting and opening his new exhibit at the de Young Museum, Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk. I heard about the exhibit a couple months ago, and got a little excited myself. I'm not really engulfed into the whole fashion scene, but I love spectating. (i.e. People watching is one of my favorite things, don't ask why.) It seems like every year or so, the de Young Museum features a fashion designer through their exhibits. This year is Jean Paul Gaultier, last year was Balenciaga, the year before that was Yves Saint Laurent, and before that was Vivienne Westwood.

I was invited to the Balenciaga opening party last year and had a blast, so when I was invited again to JPG's opening party, I was excited to attend.

It's My Birffday

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes and gifts! You guys sure do know how to make a gal feel special :). After a long birthday weekend, I decided to keep it a low key celebration today, especially after still recovering from a flu that pretty much rocked my world... and not in a good way either. Had a nice dinner at Zero Zero in SoMa with a small group of friends.

Ordered the slow cooked duck fettuccini with brussels sprouts and marsala. Everything about it was amazing, I recommend it for all the other heifers out there. This, unlike my flu, rocked my world in a good way.

Birthday wish! Not going to lie, got a little freaked out turning 27, a.k.a. one year closer to being 30. Lets all freak out together. But I have some fun things planned this year, including a trip to Mexico that just got booked for this summer! Lets hope being 27 is as good as the previous years!

Reunited And It Feels So Good!

Once upon a time, I rapped on stage with Lil' Kim. I swear I did. It's been about 2 years since I've seen Lil' Kim perform at the Rrazz Room at Hotel Nikko in downtown SF, so when I found out she was coming to the Bay Area, I knew I had to see her again. I mean, it would be sacrilegious for me not to, right? And during my birthday weekend as well!

So Lil' Kim was hosting a party at Bench and Bar in Oakland. Usually, that's not really my scene, but for Lil' Kim, she can make an appearance in the Saudi Arabia desert, and I would show up if I can.

Meet the real Basketball Wives. Kidding! Reggie, who I've mentioned here, dressed up as Atiyana for the night. With our friends Destiny and Asia who was visiting from Miami for the weekend... Amazing girls! We were enjoying ourselves before Lil' Kim hit the stage.

Of course when Lil' Kim hit the stage, the entire place went bananas! She looked like a real life doll, standing under 5 feet, even with her Giuseppe Zanotti heels on! Unfortunately, she was just hosting, so she didn't perform nor did I get to meet her like last time :(. Next time, Kim!

This Is Another Italian Post

It's pretty much a given that every time I go to North Beach, I have to have a meal with Miss Rossi, my "Italian Mom". She grew up in North Beach, so she knows where all the hot spots are for a good Italian meal. We decided to go to Michaelangelos, after spending half the day at the North Beach Parade that happens every year on the weekend of Columbus Day.

I Trust "Best Of The Bay" Awards Now

Oh hi "Local Flavor"... Nice to see you again! I know it's been a hot minute since I've updated this section. But I am back. And off my diet :).

Had dinner at Fresca the other night with a couple of friends. There are 3 in the city, one of then conveniently located close to my work in the Fillmore. Peruvian food is something I'm not all too familiar with, but Fresca was voted the best Peruvian restaurant in 2010 by Best of the Bay. I had Peruvian food once in my life (at Limon in the Mission a couple years ago, which I'm due for another visit), so I had nothing to really compare it too, so I just had to take my friend's and Best of the Bay's words for it.

Back To Asia

Remember that time I had my birthday at AsiaSF? Neither do I. That whole night of my 25th birthday was a big blur, but at least I got some cute pictures out of it.

Anyway, my editor sent me to AsiaSF in SoMa recently for an assignment. Totally haven't been here in the last 2 years. Totally still fun. If you haven't been here, they're known for their "gender illusionist", a.k.a. male to female transexuals who hold more swag and cunty-ness then Sasha Fierce herself. Watch out Beyonce, they're coming for you. Here's some pictures of the lovely ladies:

The staff is amazing and this place is so fun. Owner Skip Young and manager Micah were more then accommodating and of course by the pictures, the girls look great. Made me reminisce the time I turned 25... er, I mean whatever I remember from that night! I need to come here more often and take Diva 101 classes from these girls. They're fabulous! Speaking of birthdays, mines is coming up! Pisces' season is officially here!
