Mexican Sugar Skull

My favorite time of the year... Happy Halloween!

This year I decided to go as a Mexican Sugar Skull. After trips to Kryolan for make up (there's only 2 in the country, one being right here in San Francisco!), Fantastico for silk flowers, and Britex Fabrics for swarovski crystals (because we all know I'm trying to out-do J.Lo), this is what I came up with! Although my first time applying the make up, I looked more like a sad prostitute clown, but we won't discuss that.

This Wednesday, Garfield Park in the Mission is having a celebration for Dia de los Muertos... So the celebrating doesn't have to stop today! Can't wait to check it out. Hope everyone had as much fun on Halloween!

Anchors Away

Remember season 5, episode 67 of Sex and the City where it was Fleet Week in NYC and Carrie and her gals went out and about the town to meet some sailor boyzz? I love SATC if you couldn't tell. And I wanted to be Carrie Bradshaw in that episode this past weekend, since it was Fleet Week in San Francisco. Just kidding! Okay, no I'm not. I'm being serious, I really wanted to be her, but don't spread the word on that.

One of the main events during Fleet Week is the air show, with the Blue Angels headlining the whole thing. Last year was a total failure when it came to seeing the air show. So this year I heading to the Marina Greens where I knew I would be able to get a clear view of everything this past Sunday. Helps when you go to the actual site of the air show rather then across town in the opposite direction like I did last year.

Sad thing is, when it was time for the Blue Angels to come on, the fog bank rolled in THICK, making the Blue Angels cancel their run! Missed them again! I can never win. The upside is that the other planes performing before them were pretty amazing to watch.

Anyway, back to what we were talking about earlier. I headed to the North Beach festival after where I had my season 5 - episode 67 Carrie Bradshaw moment.

Heyyyyyyy. Around the Bay Gal Xtine and I made a new friend at Tony Niks in North Beach. I love Fleet Week :).

Sunday Is For Shopping

I don't cook. I wish I did. But the extent of my cooking is pouring cereal into a bowl along with 1% milk. Going to the farmers market is kind of a big deal for me. On a Sunday morning at that.

See the Golden Gate Bridge in the back round faintly? Met up with Ms. Carrie in her neck of the woods of the Marina for a day of produce shopping a couple Sundays ago. Or I mean, Carrie shopped, as I watched in amazement at the vegetables I didn't know existed, in colors I didn't know they came in...

... I mean, yellow string beans... Salads with flowers in it... REALLY?

Fort Mason has a pretty awesome Farmers Market every Sunday. Well, awesome to me, a person who goes grocery shopping once a month. For cereal. And milk. Anyway, This French lady and her pastries is enough incentive to check out Fort Mason's market on Sunday. Her almond croissants are the bizzness.

Carrie and her almighty broccoli. Get it, gurl! I'm almost inspired to cook now!

Oh yeah, the Roli Rotti Chicken truck is another reason you need to come here on a Sunday. So I didn't leave empty handed... 1/4 rotisserie chicken on rose mary roasted potatoes. Okay, heifer rant finished.

Fair, After Fair, After Fair, After Fair

This is what I woke up to as I stepped out my apartment on Sunday morning:

Amazing. If you live in San Francisco, you pretty much know that between the months of May - October, there's a street festival every weekend. Despite it already being October, the Castro Street Fair is the only one I attended this past summer. Don't judge. A gal was busy, okay?

My roomie Seany enjoying his sisig he got from the Filipino food truck. It was organic, too! How fancy. My fish and chips on the other hand, was the total opposite of organic. Promise I enjoyed it despite my confused look.

Who worked it better? Korey or Tyler?

I got my 2012 copy. Did you?

Did this year seem smaller then usual? For some reason, it seemed like there was less people this year. Oh well. Waking up to a drag show was good enough to make this year's street fair fun.
