April Showers Brings De Young Flowers

If you have really bad allergies, either stay away from the De Young until Sunday, or bust out that Claritan and check out the Bouquets To Art week that is going on at the museum right now. Luckily I'm not allergic to pollen, so I went to check out the floral arrangements before they withered and die away. (Circle of Life, everyone!).

Bouquet arrangement to Diego Rivera's Two Women and a Child. Florist from all over the country got to choose any permanent art piece in the De Young Museum and make a floral arrangement to interpret the piece they choose. An overzealous wedding planner's dream come true, I'm sure.

Arrangement to Robert Henri's O in Black with a Scarf. This was my favorite! I guess I could imagine the lady in the painting looking exactly like her bouquet: draping flowers as her scarf and the peach and pink flowers to represent the woman's face.

... See the similarities?

I thought it was neat how the bouquets weren't limited to just paintings. They were also made in relation to sculptures, photographs, and even old artifacts.

There was a lot too see... Almost TOO much, to the point where I quickly skimmed through the last wing of the museum because the smell of flowers was beginning to make me feel nauseous. That, and the fact there were busy crowds of soccer moms pushing and shoving trying to take that perfect picture. Despite all that, it's still worth checking out! TGIF!

I Give Face, Beauty Face!

Lip sync for your LIFE! RuPaul was doing a book signing at Books INC. in the Castro for his book Workin' It!: RuPaul's Guide to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Style (that's a mouthful, huh?). I decided to stop by to meet and greet Ru, since I love RuPaul's Drag Race (Go Team JuJubee!). So of course I wanted to express my love for the show and meet the Don Diva in person.

I was bummed to find out he didn't dress up in all his extravaganza-ness. So instead of meeting RuPaul, I guess I just met... Paul?

Either way, Miss Ru was extremely nice. He told me he loved my jacket because he had the exact same one... And to prove it, he told me where and what year I got it (Uniqlo, NYC, circa 2007). And he was right! I guess the drag queen in me subconsciously came out when I bought it.

The book is pretty entertaining. It's full of pictures as well as tips on diet, make up, style, and other pointers on how to work the feroshness in us all. Oh yeah, and it's pretty hilarious, too. Look up the chapter entitled "My First Colonic"... it's a must read!

Cherry Cherry

The Cherry Blossom Festival is taking place this weekend in Japan Town. I decided to make a quick stop since the weather was considerably pleasant today. Surprisingly, there weren't many cherry blossoms in sight, which I was pretty bummed out about.

I'm usually in Japan Town for lunch about once a week, since I work by the area. It's usually dead during the weekdays, so it was nice to see the area full of people. I always thought the Pagoda looked a little futuristic and out of place... Reminds me of spaceships stacked on top of each other.

I'm adding this chandelier to my bucket list of things to own before I die.

Decorated with flowers, fruit, and pink teddy bears. Gaudiness at its finest and I loves it! Found in New People on Post and Webster.

Also added to my bucket list: own a pika pika machine in my apartment.

Getting Physical

Jogging with my roomie Sean through Dolores Park...

... a little bit more enjoyable with this scenery, don't you think?

Tea Party

Instead of attending church, you can find people enjoying bottomless pomegranate mimosas and bloody marys with loud music blaring on any given Sunday morning at Lime... Jesus would be so proud! Last week I attended brunch here for Antoine's birthday and I totally forgot how fun this place is!

The birthday boy, Antoine with his cute birthday hat.

Brunch somehow looked like the the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Bella, Moi, Jae, Antoine, Vi, and Frankie.

Look at Jae's adorable Easter outfit. With the matching pink shoes and all :).

I Like That

Can we please reset the weekend again? Pretty please?

Not So Much Laguna Beach, But Still...

The month of March has been extremely busy, hence the reason why I haven't had a chance to be by a computer long enough to blog. I spent the last week and a half of March moving out of the Sunset and into a new neighborhood of San Francisco! (One of the many reasons I've been missing in action)... I'll get into details sometime soon.

One thing I loved about the Sunset is that the beach was just a hop and a skip away.

...Granted, Ocean Beach isn't exactly like Laguna Beach on MTV (I prefer Bakers Beach, personally), but it really is nice on super warm days. So when the weather was in the mid 70's last week, I had to take advantage and have one last romp in the Sunset.

Such a cute picture. Bella lifting up Antoine as Roxy and Frankie spectate in the background. P.s. - This picture reminds me of Street Fighter... when someone gets kicked in the air. Haha.

I'll miss living by the beach :(.
